Revolution in the world of personal computer
In 1943, the chairman of IBM Thomas Watson stated that perhaps the maximum of five computers could be sold globally. He meant that computers were not made for common people. Huge companies such as IBM and Intel believed that computers could not be sold in large quantities. Steve Jobs (1955-2011) and Stephen Wozniak (born 1950), the two young men who built and sold personal computers, proved that a common person could use computers. The new brand they started was called 'Apple'.
Apple was started in Job's garage. Initially, Wozniak and Jobs had only revolutionary ideas, not money. They collected money by selling their car and calculator. They showed a sample computer to convince store owners. Finally, a store ordered 50 computers for them. Both friends bought goods with the borrowed $ 25,000 and assembled 'apple-one' computers in the garage. Only 175 computers were sold in the first year. Jobs and Wozniak made several improvements to their product and launched 'apple-two' in 1977. According to the experts, 'apple-two' was a great invention that started a revolution in personal computers.
On 1st April 1976, Apple Computer Incorporation was founded in Cupertino, California. With no strong competitors, the company initially grew at an annual rate of 150%. Its sales in 2010 were 65.23 billion dollars, and profit was 14 billion dollars.
No computer company in the world can compete with Apple in terms of experimentation. Apple was the first to market graphics and computer mouse. (However, though Xerox Lab had already invented the mouse, they did not launch in the market). With the help of it, even common people can easily operate a computer. In 2001, Apple invented a portable media player called iPod and had sold over 20 crore iPods so far. Then they launched iTunes, iPhone, iPod, i-Life, and much more. Because of these wonderful ideas, Apple started a personal computer revolution, and for the same reason, it later laid the foundations for success in the fields of music and phone.
