The matter is…Jade Blue Lifestyle !
Imagine the situation in which the head of the family – a father who bears all the expenses of the house suddenly decides to become a hermit and leaves the young children and wife helpless. Coming out of such a strange and difficult situation, two brothers - Jitendra Chauhan and Bipin Chauhan, not only became a backbone for their family by achieving success in a traditional family business but also made elite clothes even for India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the same time, they also own a company with a turnover of Rs 250 crore.
The two brothers lived with their family in a chali in Ahmedabad when they were young. His ancestral business was tailoring. Bipin and Jitendra are the sixth generation in tailoring work. Bipinbhai’s father, Chimanlal Chauhan married his mother who belonged to Limdi – a town 100 km away from Ahmedabad. In 1966, Bipinbhai was only four years old when his father decided to leave home to become a hermit.
Their shop, named Chauhan Tailors, was near Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. But after his father's sudden retirement, the situation became serious and within a year, the family had to move to a grandparents' house in Ahmedabad where Bipinbhai's grandfather and maternal uncle were running a tailoring shop named ‘Makwana Brothers'.
'Makwana Brothers' – the tailoring shop was very famous among nearby localities. About 100 kurtas were ordered for stitching every day. His mother worked hard; she used to wake up at six in the morning, and used to work till late night so that children would not miss their father. She used to stitch buttons on ordered clothes. His two brothers and two sisters attended the city's municipal school.
After completing their education, both the brothers decided to start their own business instead of working for someone. In 1981, they opened a tailoring shop in Ahmedabad called 'Supremo Clothing and Menswear'. They borrowed a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh from a bank and opened the shop in 250 square feet space in a commercial complex of old Ahmedabad. On one hand, Bipin was a creative person, on the other side Jitendra was a visionary person. Supremo Clothing proved to be a launch pad for both the brothers and they began to increase their strength.
Jitendra thought that there are many tailors in the city to sew clothes, but the business can quickly grow if we make clothes for influential people. At the time, they had no connection with such customers, but they dreamed of sewing clothes for the Prime Minister.
In the late 80's, RSS Union Campaigner Narendra Modi suddenly came to their shop to sew clothes one evening. Both the brothers were very modest in the business so Narendra Modi became their permanent customer. After that, he always gets his linen and poly-fabric clothes sewed from there. At that time, two brothers had no idea that one day this person would become the Prime Minister of the country.
His shop became famous for sewing clothes of well-known people and gradually eminent personalities of the city started sewing clothes from their shop. In the year 1995, they opened a 2800 square feet commercial center on CG Road in Ahmedabad. The shop was named ‘Jade Blue’.Today, they have more than 51 retail shops across the nation. However, till today, Jitendra keeps a measuring tape in the drawer and Bipin still believes in presenting the brand creatively.
