The Pilgrim Center of Innovative Technology
Rajkot is known as a colorful (Rangilu) city of Gujarat. City is painted with beautiful paintings and it is also known as a hub of manufacturing and engineering. There are many manufacturing companies because of which Rajkot earned this recognition, 'Jyoti CNC' is one of them.
In 1989, Mr. Parakramsinh Jadeja did the act of valour just like the meaning of his name by taking the loan of ₹30,000 under Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana and started a workshop with the name of 'Jyoti'. Initially, he used to do machining job-work for different tool-makers. It was easy to find job-work in Rajkot. Gradually, he started getting work of an assembly and sub-assembly in addition to job-work. By the year of 1992, Jyoti started supplying complete gear-boxes for the lathe machine. Then, the company designed the lathe machine itself. In 1994, they designed a Special Purpose Machine (SPM) for the textile industry so that the cost of component manufacturing can be reduced. 'Jyoti' made a Twin Spindle Machine which was made for the first time ever by any manufacturers in Rajkot.
Now, Mr. Parakramsinh Jadeja has cultivated mastery in the making of conventional machines. However, he was not someone who would feel satisfied and sit comfortably. He brought change in the company with his valour. Year of 1998-1999 was going to be transformational for Jyoti. In that year, Jyoti became the first company of Gujarat to manufacture CNC Turning Machine. Afterwards, the company's product portfolio kept on expanding as automatic machines were manufactured by the company one after another. Presently, the company makes many special purpose machines like Turning Center Machine, Vertical Milling Center (VMC), Turn Mill Center, Horizontal Milling Center (HMC), 3 Axis and 5 Axis High Speed CNC Machine and CNC Vertical Line Machine. Jyoti manufactured India's first ever multi-tasking machine tool, Jyoti MTX 300.
This company is capable of making 3,000 CNC machines per year in its total 3 manufacturing units spread over premises of 9 lacs square feet at Metoda GIDC, Rajkot. Each unit is equipped with the "State-of-Art" machine-shop and has world-class infrastructure. Besides, the company has a foundry, assembly shop, sub-assembly shop, sheet metal shop, CED paint shop and also machinery with the latest technology. Fully automatic foundry has the capacity of making 1,000 tonne casting components every month. Many machines like Laser Cutting, CNC Bending and Robotic Welding add value to the machine-shop of the company. They have built separate dust-proof sub-assembly shops with the temperature controller especially to assemble critical components of CNC machines like spindle, automatic tool changer and applications of electric parts. 'Leonardo da Vinci' R&D center was the major motive behind the tremendous success of the company.
In 2007, Jyoti took over the 150 year old French machine tool giant 'Huron' which manufactures 5 axis machines. Huron has 2 manufacturing units in France and the sales & service network in the whole Europe. Jyoti has its own technology center in Rajkot and the sales & service center in the big cities of the country. Jyoti's client industry includes automobile, aerospace, textile, medical, agriculture, dye-mold, plastic machineries etc. Jyoti-Huron has a strong sales network at international level which integrates the countries of Asia, Europe, USA and Africa.
If we talk about the awards won by them, space on the wall of the office of Mr. Parakramsinh won't be enough to keep all the awards.
India's share in the manufacturing of machine tools in the world is of 1% only whereas consumption is about 2%, hence import of the machine-tools is more. Vision of 'Jyoti CNC' is to make into the list of the top 10 automatic tool-makers of the world in the upcoming years.
Few months back at the initial stage of Covid-19 pandemic, our country was going through a scarcity of pressure controlled ventilator, the team led by Mr. Parakramsinh made indigenous ventilators in just 10 days. Testing of that ventilator was done in the presence of honourable Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani at Civil Hospital Ahmedabad. After getting success in the initial stage of testing, the company decided to give 1,000 ventilators at free of cost to the government. The best things about this ventilator were : the first was that it was promoting the 'Make In India' movement and the second was that its price was ⅙th of the current market price.
Someone who is not even a graduate has the skill of transforming the small work-shop into a company with turnover of ₹700 crore. Only Mr. Parakramsinh and other entrepreneurs like him can accomplish the dream of our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making India self-dependent.
