Tata Motors’ employee became known all over the world today
Sumant Moolgaokar, an employee of Tata Company worked for Tata Motors for 40 years. He always thought about what he could do to move the company forward. During his tenure, Sumant did many works and because of which all the employees of Tata Motors remember him even today.
Sumant usually went for lunch with employees of the company's upper management every day. But for the last few days, Sumant was seen leaving in his car during breaks and returning when the breaks were over. That aroused doubts in the minds of many employees. There were rumors that Sumant might have gone to dine at a five star hotel with some dealers.
Following such suspicions, some fellow employees chased Sumant's car during breaks. When Sumant stopped the car, everyone's eyes widened seeing the site where he was standing. Actually, Sumant parked his car at a Dhaba on the highway. He ordered a meal for himself, and also for the rest of the truck drivers there. He asked questions to the truck drivers while having lunch. His questions included usual complaints regarding trucks, good things, and many more by which he was trying to find out the flaws which could give an accurate estimate of what improvements can still be made to the trucks.
When a truck travels on highways across the country, only then its real capacity can be estimated. Besides, accurate feedback can be received by drivers.
As soon as this method was known, talks about Sumant were started around the company. Seeing Sumant's such efforts, the company rewarded him heavily which was the biggest employee reward in the history of Tata Company. This reward means 'Tata Sumo'. The word 'SU' is derived from the word 'Sumant' and the word 'MO' is derived from the word 'Moolgaokar' in ‘Tata Sumo’ that was launched in 1994. A stadium named after him has also been built in the Telco Colony of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. What could be a bigger award than the name of an employee being associated with the name of a leading company in the country?
