Another name for modern innovation
In 2001, two engineer friends, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, went to Stanford University to attend a Mars Society talk. There they listened to Elon Musk and after his speech met him. Musk had extensive start-up experience at the time, including a successful company like PayPal.
Martin and Marc wanted to prove that people don't have to compromise to drive an electric car. Electric cars can be faster and better than traditional gasoline cars. With all these in mind, they started their own company in 2003 and named it 'Tesla' after the great scientist Nikola Tesla. The two friends then met Musk once again with their company proposal, and Musk agreed to make initial funding at Tesla. Musk joined the company as head of the board of directors and was also named co-founder. Elon Musk became very actively involved with Tesla and was instrumental in persuading other investors to invest in Tesla. He also actively contributed to the design of the company's first product, the Tesla Roadster.
In 2006, Tesla's first electric car, the Roadster, won the award for Best Innovation from Time Magazine, and it began its full production in 2008. It was the first electric car to cover a distance of 200 miles on a single charge. Then in June 2012, the company launched the 'Model S' for the luxury segment of the market. The car proved to be a hit in every way, and by 2015, the company had sold more than one lakh models. In 2015, the company launched a hybrid SUV with Falcon Wings' Model X'.
In 2006, Musk wrote an open letter on Tesla's website, entitled "Tesla Motors' Secret Master Plan (Only between you and me)." "The main goal of Tesla Motors (and my funding at Tesla) is to move the world from a traditional hydrocarbon economy to a solar economy," he wrote. This was a unique vision compared to other companies, who only focused on the production of new cars every year.
Despite the unprecedented initial success, the company's entire journey has been full of ups and downs. The company faced many problems like finance, delivery deal, and manufacturing. Despite all these difficulties, Tesla continued to move forward. The masterstroke of the company and Musk was that they immediately responded to any problem through social media. Musk, in particular, is very popular for responding to people on Twitter.
Another specialty of Tesla is that while other companies spend as much as 11 million dollars a year on advertising alone, Tesla does not even spend a penny on advertising. Unlike other companies, Tesla chose to sell through its own stores rather than offering dealerships. For this, they created stores in shopping malls so that more people could see their products directly.
Today, Elon Musk, known as the "Real-life Tony Stark", has become the face of the company and is often mistaken for its founder. Musk himself is the founder of several companies, including PayPal and SpaceX, and is already associated with Tesla. Like Steve Jobs and Apple, much of Tesla's success goes to Musk. Musk is known for saying anything humorously. This humor has played an essential part in gaining the trust of the customers.
The core of Tesla is innovation. The company is continuously striving for the future of owning an electric car, which is proving to be inspiring and engaging. Soon, with the 'Tesla Semi' and the new 'Next-Gen Tesla Roadster,' the company is poised to dominate the electric vehicle market.
